The Historical Commission of the City of Mount Clemens, Michigan was created and established by Ordinance 12.700 effective April 11, 1985.
The purpose of this ordinance is to foster historic preservation which may include the following:
(a) Promote and safeguard the heritage of the City of Mount Clemens by increasing public awareness and appreciation of the structures and objects in Mount Clemens which reflect elements of its cultural, social, economic, political, or architectural history;
(b) Stabilize and improve property values within the City of Mount Clemens;
(c) Foster civic beauty; and
(d) Strengthen the local economy." The Historical Commission consists of nine (9) members appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Commission.
